I rode my bike in from Minto Brown. That felt fine. First bike ride in many months. Had a few false starts...forgot my SH id, forgot my glasses. New pedals that don't clip is helpful. Also figured out how to get itunes on this computer so hopefully tomorrow will be able to sync with new iphone!!
Have a lost Wheaten Terrior on our porch the last few weeks. Eugene is what we named him. Tomorrow he is off with foster family Ro found.
Crazy day here at work.
Early morning meeting tomorrow. Will still try and bike it.

a little more
Off to Illinois tomorrow for 9 days, some in Chicago, some in Peoria. I'm staying with my sister and Eric at the start, then driving down for a few days and then back before heading back West. It will be nice to see everyone. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
I had a nice dinner with the Lewallens last night. Spaghetti and shrimp and bread and butter and broccoli. Got to see Dozer also. Then I was up late packing. But today feels ok, not too tired.
Current state of everyone else: Ro and Hannah are in Illinois, Rebecca and Sara in Egypt with their mom and James somewhere, either LA or Chicago, I think the latter.
Hazel at the local Kennel.

post xmas update
Last day at work. Still missing Claudia though we all agree that was best for her. The others must know that I'm leaving. Even Berkeley stayed with me last night. Not like him. I'm packed and have everything in the trunk of the car just in case I'm not able to go home. Did my last minute shopping in Portland so, except for Ro, I'm done shopping, just not sending yet. That can wait until I'm back in January.
Reading "T is for Trespass" and my suitcase is loaded with next books. Hopefully, I'll find time for them.

go Red Sox...
Spent last night watching the Red Sox smash the Indians and move on. I also watched Jack's Tokyo speech and read the eulogies from his funeral service. Wrote my own little eulogy to send to Lydia with the book. Everything came in the mail at the same time. I'll try and get that done today if I can. Well perhaps tomorrow.
It was nice to have James here over the weekend. Off to OHSU with Ro early this morning for his checkup.
I finished the little book by Naomi Wolf about the worrisome changes in the US. She makes it sound pretty scary here which it is when you think about things the way she presents them. Private armies, eaves dropping, loss of habeus corpus. I'm not sure I agree with everything she is saying, but I do agree we need to get over our apathy.

cats and bugs and what not on Friday 10/19
Claudia is definitely more spunky. I slept out on the couch with her which she seemed to like. She ate a couple of times. Olive is getting faster and bolted from the den despite precautions. She headed right for the back room; stopped to watch the dryer drying and did avoidance. Ogden found a giant bug in the front hall. It looked like three flies stuck together. It could fly. Incredibly ugly. I squished it. Berkeley was hiding upstairs as usual. Too early for Hazel.
I drove Hannah to school...discussing hypothesis and experiments and her day. Then I did a run at Bush Park, stopped at Starbuck's downtown, and off to work.
Still sad about Jack. Something on NPR triggered me remembering that he always called me on my birthday. That made me tearful. I have to remember to call Lydia that day.

sitting at Salem Rehab late afternoon
thinking of Jack and still not quite believing that he's not in the world.
